Senior Strategic Program Manager (Product Operations)

As a Strategic Program Manager, you will serve in a key role with the Portfolio Strategy and Business Transformation team reporting to the Chief of Staff for the Chief Product Officer. This critical position will support portfolio NetApp’s growth by collaborating with various leadership including Business Units and Product teams, Go-to-Market, Finance, and the Business Operations team for the office of the CEO to drive clarity, alignment, and operational excellence across strategic initiatives. Your work ensures our programs deliver impact, support strategic objectives, and enable data-driven decision-making.

The candidate must have demonstrated excellence at managing diverse stakeholders, many at a very senior level, and exacting attention to detail. The candidate must also be able to work across all teams at NetApp to build relationships and drive key strategic initiatives in a positive and collaborative manner. The candidate should be well versed in data analytics, with an ability to leverage data and AI tools to support executive decision making. The candidate must have the ability to take the initiative and find and solve problems independently for the overall betterment of the entire Product Group and NetApp
Key Responsiblities
Program Leadership & Strategy
- Lead cross-functional programs tied to key product, portfolio, or transformation priorities, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Partner with business owners and senior leaders to define program goals, success metrics, and guiding principles.
- Visualize strategic direction, translate it into actionable plans, and ensure execution clarity across all participating teams.
- Facilitate alignment across Business Units and Product teams, GTM, and Business Operations to drive shared outcomes.
Planning & Governance
- Utilize a structured, repeatable processes that support effective planning, portfolio reviews, and executive decision-making.
- Maintain end-to-end program oversight, including scope, milestones, dependencies, and risks.
- Track and report on program performance, ensuring transparency for senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Stakeholder & Executive Engagement
- Build trusted relationships with senior-level stakeholders across Business Units, Product Teams, GTM, Finance, and Business Operations.
- Provide concise, data-driven updates to executives, surfacing insights, recommendations, and risk mitigation options.
- Influence and drive cross-functional alignment across diverse and sometimes competing priorities.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement
- Evaluate and improve program management processes, tools, and systems to drive efficiency and scale.
- Leverage analytics, dashboards, and metrics to enhance visibility and support strategic decision-making.
- Identify risks and issues early, recommend scenarios or tradeoffs, and facilitate decisions.
Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience successfully managing complex, cross functional programs or initiatives in a high growth or technology environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate at the executive level through written, verbal and visual forms
- Ability to partner with executive team members to determine and prioritize business strategies
- Demonstrated ‘independent operator’ with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities who can identify challenges and create solutions with little to no guidance.
- Exceptional people, operational, strategic planning and coordination skills
- Excellence with the Microsoft Office suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Teams
- Proficiency leveraging project management software and tools such as Atlassian (Jira and Confluence), Smartsheet Miro, etc. to manage programs, determine KPIs and measure team performance
- Experience with Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
- PMP, PgMP certification or extensive Agile Program Management experience preferred
- Background in data analytics experience preferred
Education
- BS/BA or equivalent; with an MBA or advanced certifications strongly preferred
Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 158,100 - 235,400 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. The range is based on 'On Target Earnings’ (OTE) representing the total potential earnings, which is the sum of the base salary and potential commission earned when performance targets are achieved. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off, various Leave options, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s). These offerings are subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies. We will provide detailed information about the specific benefits for your region during the recruitment process.
