Job Summary

The Head of Messaging and Governance leads the efforts in developing and implementing a compelling and cohesive messaging strategy that seamlessly connects brand to demand. This strategic leadership role is responsible for Intelligent Data Infrastructure (IDI) and the four key customer imperatives: Data Modernization, Cloud Transformation, AI, and Cyber Resilience

In this role, the Head of Messaging and Governance works cross-functionally to define the core narrative and foundational messaging that underpins all marketing, sales, and product development efforts. The goal is to ensure alignment and consistency across the business, creating a unified voice that resonates with the target audience and drives strategic objectives.

Job Requirements

•    Messaging Framework: Define and articulate a clear, differentiated, and impactful messaging framework that ladders from Brand to Strategic Demand and accounts for Intelligent Data Infrastructure and four customer imperatives - Data Modernization, Cloud Transformation, AI, and Cyber Resilience.
•    Solutions and Target Personas: Develop messaging that effectively communicates the value of our solutions to target personas, ensuring messaging is tailored to address specific needs and pain points. 
•    Narrative Development: Craft compelling narratives and stories that resonate with target audiences, translating complex technical concepts into clear, accessible, and persuasive messages. Leverage customer voices to bring the narrative to life. 
•    Brand Governance: Establish and enforce brand governance to ensure consistency and compliance across all marketing and communication channels, maintaining the integrity of the NetApp brand.
•    Measurement and Optimization: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of messaging strategies and make data-driven adjustments for continuous improvement.
•    Content Foundation: Build out the foundational messaging and core pillars and partner cross-functionally to ensure that it informs the creation of various marketing and sales collateral, including white papers, presentations, website copy, and more. 
•    Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and other relevant teams to ensure messaging consistency and alignment across all touchpoints. Gather insights and inputs from stakeholder groups and test messaging with customers and partners. This includes socializing and refining the messaging with stakeholders. 
•    Market Intelligence and Competitive Analysis: Partner with the Insights team, to stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and evolving customer needs to continuously refine messaging and identify opportunities. Leverage analyst and influencer insights in crafting and shaping messages.
•    Thought Leadership Integration: Partner with thought leadership teams to ensure that messaging is tied to thought leadership initiatives and leverages key moments in thought leadership to enhance market impact.
•    Team Development and Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and inspire the Brand to Demand team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Qualifications

•    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Technology, or a related field.
•    Experience:  Proven experience in developing and executing messaging strategies for B2B technology companies, particularly in areas like AI, Cyber Security, Cloud, and Data Infrastructure.
•    Skills: Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and compelling narratives. Strong understanding of market trends, customer imperatives, and competitive dynamics within the IDI space. Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive alignment and message consistency. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications


-    Experience in a leadership or managerial role.
-    Familiarity with marketing technologies and data analytics platforms.
-    Experience in crafting messaging, storytelling.

Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 187,000 - 278,300 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies. Benefits may vary by country and region, and further details will be provided as part of the recruitment process.
